3 Easy Immune Boosting Breakfast Ideas

It’s a scary time right now with viruses quickly spreading, and it might not seem like there’s much you can do to keep yourself protected. While it’s true that there are no quick fixes, taking care of your body and providing it with the necessary nutrients can give you a fighting chance.

Nourish yourself by starting off with these 3 easy breakfast suggestions that will help you keep your immune system in tip top shape.

1. Citrus Fruit Salad

No specific recipe needed, simply toss together a few citrus fruits (or just one!) together  with any other type of favorite fruit. Our favorite is blood orange, banana, and kiwi, with a squeeze of lemon and honey. Citrus fruits are loaded with vitamin C, which is known for it’s immune boosting powers. Plus, eating fruit will give you natural energy and hydration, first thing in the morning when it’s most important. Finally, honey is one of nature’s strongest antimicrobials.

2. Eggs

Any way you like them! Sunny side up, scrambled, an omelette. Whatever is easiest or most delicious to you is what we recommend. Egg’s contain high levels of vitamin D.. Studies show that vitamin D might help reduce your risk of contracting a virus, and recovering more quickly should you become ill. A whopping 42% of Americans happen to be vitamin D deficient, so just imagine how much healthier we all could be as a whole by simply incorporating eggs into our breakfast a few times a week!

3. Yogurt with nuts or seeds

Listen, zinc is a huge deal. It’s one of the most important minerals that we can arm our bodies with. It helps repair and restore important tissue, is critical for the function of over 300 of our bodies enzymes, and is necessary for ongoing immune system function. Squash ,flax, pumpkin and sesame seeds are all high in zinc, while pine nuts, peanuts, cashews and almonds can boost your intake. The extra boost of calcium in yogurt also can’t hurt! Just be sure to double check unhealthy added sugars.
